Intern Joins Harvest Initiative for the Summer
June 15, 2009
Louis Herman, a 2009 graduate of Crow Creek Tribal High School and Harvest Initiative’s Business Law Course, joined The Harvest Initiative staff as a summer intern.
Louis will assist HI’s staff with various projects including Tribal Wind Development research, CDFI development, and grant writing. He will travel and attend meetings with HI staff and already completed a visit to Four Bands Community Fund in Eagle Butte, SD.
Louis hopes to gain experience working with small businesses and entrepreneurs during the summer. He plans to attend Northern State University in Aberdeen this fall to learn more about becoming a business owner.
Funding for the internship was provided through a partnership with the South Dakota Department of Labor.
The Harvest Initiative was founded in 2008 to invest locally in native grown ideas and support socially responsible business development to move Crow Creek Sioux Reservation toward a commercially viable, self-sustaining economic environment.
